Looking to the new year.
What show should I spec next?
Parks and Rec? Modern Family? Up All Night? The New Girl?
Ugh, EVERYONE’S spec-ing Parks and Rec and Modern family though… and who knows if Up All Night will be on another season? And I think The New Girl just tries way too hard! and The Office and 30 Rock both have a bazillion seasons under their belt and they’re awesome! How can I live up to...

Yayy 4 movie tickets for $24!
Not bad.
From Fandango.
Just watched...
8 episodes of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER in the last 2 days. And I’m only on Season 4, so that means there’s 16 more episodes in this season alone… gah! Catching up feels so daunting right now. But I gotta keep pushing on!
the New Year
I’m going to start timing all the hours I spend actually working on my acting and writing career. I’m going to use a stopwatch and really time when I’m “on the clock” and when I’m not—for example, writing, watching Netflix, editing, submitting, designing postcards, sending out mailers, being in class—and it WILL add up to 6 hours a day dangit.
First writing fellowship deadline coming up.
…and it’s Nickelodeon. Starting Jan 2 they will be accepting submissions! I’m going to wait to get a few notes back from people, and I’m going to continue watching HIMYM (just finished Season 3, next goal is to get through Season 4 by Friday!), and after I finally catch up I will send off my script.
The odds are completely astronomical of getting through these fellowships...
Good or bad thing?
I get the most work done on my acting career when I am procrastinating from writing.
How I Met Your Mother.
There need to be more TV couples like Lily and Marshall. It’s not gay rights that’s ruining the institution of marriage—it’s the media and its horrible portrayal of women and relationships and aging.
Just saw...
Puss in Boots.
So much fun! I loved it!
However, I could really do with a lot less Zach Galifianakis in this world.
First voice over gig!
Yay, I just booked my first voice over gig using Voice 123! It’s $75—not bad considering it’s my first one ever! Now I just have to make $315 more to make back my investment on the whole voice acting venture.
And I’m planning on signing up for classes at Kalmenson & Kalmenson starting this January. They are very expensive but I’ve heard great things about them....
bbatugo replied to your post: Just watched…

the Pan Am pilot with Amazon Prime Instant Video.
Not bad.
But man, do we really need another period drama?
Why I hate period dramas
Yet another television series glorifying this idyllic America that never was, celebrating white Americans and their history but completely ignoring other narratives. I’m not saying we should never have period dramas about white America, because...

This semester I took a class at UC Berkeley: International Area Studies 120, International Reporting in the Digital Age. Our final projects were to build a multi-page website on a topic of our choice. Mine is on solar energy and how it can/has/will affect a number of issues in the Philippines. It is a running blog so I plan on keeping it updated with news on the issue. Check it out...

Duties of a girlfriend #427
Going shopping with your boo and picking out clothes for him.
It’s fun picking out shoes, shirts, ties, little things here and there.
Then there are the really long lasting things you pick out for them—like glasses. Your mark, every day, for months, maybe years.

2 hours after I started,
I am finally caught up with my inbox.
Oh, the behemoth that is email.
Now I need to get cracking on writing. I was super bummed to miss out on the historic Filipinotown meeting about the mural, but man I really need to write and do work today. I feel like it’s finals week almost—it’s crunch time. Two readings and I haven’t even finished either of my scripts! Kill me now.

Nothing on TV is real.
That is something I’m realizing more and more as I go deeper into Hollywood.
The “teenagers” you see on TV? They’re all pushing 30. Glee, all those kids are 28. Heck, I’m 22 and I’m on the low side compared to everyone I’ve had scenes with.
Even the “real” teenagers who play teenagers on TV? The ones who are actually 17 or younger?...
